Film shapes how we see the world — and how we see each other.

At BACCS Cinema, we believe the cultural impact of cinema lies not only in its reach, but in its ability to open conversations, shift perspectives, and bring communities into relation. We don’t just curate films—-we build momentum.

Since May 2023, BACCS Cinema has become an open platform for Asian cinema in the San Francisco Bay Area. Through sustained programming across theaters, institutions, and digital spaces, we create encounters between films and audiences that might otherwise never meet. Those curated screenings allow stories to travel beyond the screen, into dialogue, memory, and lived experience.

In the past two years, we have demonstrated clear audience demand and conversion: 10,000+ tickets sold, 1,000+ online participants, and over 10,000 total attendees across theater screenings, streaming events, and filmmaker conversations for only 30 screenings.

These numbers speak to a deeper longing: for Asian cinema to be seen, discussed, and woven into the cultural life of North America, and for Asian filmmakers to curate a sustained dialogue with global audiences.
